MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - The NEWMAC has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending April 5, 2026, and Salve Regina University sophomore Danny Rogers has been selected as the Athlete of the Week for baseball.
Sophomore Danny Rogers (New Canaan, Conn.) has now hit safely in every game this season, adding to his multi-hit totals (now 10 games) with a pair of four-hit wins (Friday versus Johnson & Wales, Saturday at Clark). For the week, he went 10-for-21 at the plate (.476) with a double, four stolen bases, six runs scored, and an RBI. He made a dozen grabs in center field flawlessly across the four games for the #4 Seahawks, who went 4-0 on the week.
Seahawk head coach Eric Cirella '05 on Rogers: "Danny has been a spark plug for us all year. He can do it with his bat, his glove, and his speed. When he's on the bases, he can really speed up the game for opposing teams. And he's definitely a guy we want up in a big spot."
Salve Regina (17-2; 5-1 NEWMAC) starts a six-game week on the road against Western New England University on Monday, followed by their only conference contest on Tuesday (Babson, 3 p.m.) at home, and then non-league meetings at Reynolds Field on Thursday (Mitchell, 3 p.m.), Saturday (UMass Dartmouth, doubleheader starts at noon), and Sunday (Curry, 1 p.m.). All home games scheduled to broadcast on FloCollege.
