Salve Regina secures top seed in NEWMAC Baseball Championships

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - The NEWMAC has released the 2026 Baseball Championship bracket after the championship field was set this afternoon. The 2026 Baseball Championship field consists of six teams, featuring two single elimination play-in games, followed by a four-team double elimination tournament. The Championship will begin on Wednesday, May 6.

Salve Regina University (14-2) earned the top seed and is led offensively by Danny Rogers and Dylan Cimini, who are batting .432 and .418, respectively, to top the NEWMAC. On the mound, Nolan Romanowski tops the NEWMAC with ten wins and a 2.75 ERA. Salve will move straight to the double-elimination round on Friday and will host through Saturday.

Wheaton College (11-5) grabs the second seed and will also move straight through to the double-elimination round, earning the right to host on Friday. The Lyons will look to Logan Downey to make an impact, as he heads into the postseason with a .378 batting average. Pitcher Aiden Cardoza is sixth in the NEWMAC with a 3.53 ERA.

Babson College (10-6) received the No. 3 seed and will host a single-elimination game against No. 6 Clark University (7-9). Babson's Robert Christensen leads the Beavers with a .373 batting average. Clark's Bennett Hewett is third in the league with a .393 batting average. The winner will advance to play No. 2 Wheaton.
 
MIT (10-6) nabs the four seed and will play a single-elimination game against No. 5 Springfield College (10-6). James Dempsey leads the Engineers offensively with a .364 batting average. Springfield's Tyler Casey is hitting .374 entering the postseason. The winner will move on to Friday to play top-seeded Salve Regina.

Tickets for NEWMAC championship events can be purchased through the NEWMAC box office. The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. Spectators may purchase mobile tickets on site, but no cash option will be available. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission. Children 12 and under and NEWMAC students with a valid institutional ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket. Once a matchup is confirmed following each round of the championship, the tickets will become available.

All rounds of the NEWMAC Baseball Championship will be available for streaming on FloSports.

Game 3 – Winner Game 2 at No. 1 Salve Regina – 3:00 p.m. 
Game 4- Winner Game 1 at No. 2 Wheaton – 3:30 p.m. 

Saturday, May 9 – at Salve Regina (double-elimination)

Game 5- Loser Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4 - 9:30 p.m. 
Game 6- Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 4 - 12:30 p.m. 
Game 7- Winner Game 5 vs. Loser Game 6 - 3:30 p.m.
