NEWPORT, R.I.-- Daniel Naglieri '26 (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) and Heath Sumwalt '28 (East Quogue, N.Y.) have been honored with NEWMAC All-Conference recognition as statistical leaders for the 2026 Salve Regina University men's lacrosse season.

"We are ecstatic for Dan and Heath to be honored All-NEWMAC," said head men's lacrosse coach Patrick Cooney. "Both are incredible student-athletes representing the men's lacrosse team with distinction in the classroom, on the lacrosse field, and the greater Salve community."

As a senior captain Naglieri was named to the NEWMAC First Team All- Conference. He led the Seahawks in goals, assists and total points this season. In 2025 he was named to the first Team NEWMAC All-Conference and Lax Reference DIII Men's Lacrosse Offensive Star. This spring he recorded his 100th career goal, his 100th career assist, and his 200th career point scored. He recently became the third highest all-time points leader at Salve with 128 goals and 110 assists.

"Dan has been a huge part of the Seahawk offense over his four years in Newport," remarked Cooney. "In 2026 as team captain, he led the team in points (48G and 23A) often matching up with the opponent's top defenseman. A two-time NEWMAC First Team attackman, he graduates Salve Regina as one of the most prolific scorers in the program's history with 238 points and team leading point scorer the last three years. Winner of the 2026 Brother Michael Reynolds Award, the Dean's List finance major graduates this May setting a tremendous example for our student-athletes on and off the field with a 3.73 cumulative GPA."

Sumwalt, a sophomore midfielder, earned a spot on the NEWMAC Second Team All-Conference. He started all 15 games this season and contributed 20 goals and five assists for 25 total points. He was the fourth ranked Seahawk this season in goals scored and total points. Sumwalt scored his season-high four goals in Salve Regina's 16-12 NEWMAC win over the United States Coast Guard Academy on March 14.

"Heath, as just a sophomore, led the midfield position on offense, defense, and special teams," stated Cooney. "His intelligence coupled with his athleticism makes others around him better. He was the leading point scorer on the midfield despite drawing the long stick defender. His ball security is second to none, making excellent decisions under duress. The best part of his game may be the middle of the field in transition and on the faceoff wing, anticipating opportunities and matching opponent's advances. The Dean's List education major continues set a standard of excellence in the classroom with a 3.76 cumulative GPA."
