NEWPORT, R.I.-- Seahawk men's soccer is ready to represent Salve Regina University on opening day Tuesday, September 1, at Toppa Field against UMass Boston at 5 p.m.

The men's soccer home slate features seven contests, four of which are conference games. The NEWMAC opener takes place on the road against Wheaton on Saturday, September 19, at 2 p.m. The first home conference game of the year will be held on Saturday, September 26, at Toppa Field at 2 p.m. against Emerson.

"In my time here at Salve, I have been really lucky to work with a program that has a tremendous culture," said head coach Bill Lawler. "The previous head coach, Craig O'Rourke II, did a fantastic job over 18 years of building a tightly knit team on and off the field-- that off the field part is key to a program's culture. I have been so lucky to work with two tremendous senior classes during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. We have changed and tweaked some parts of the culture as we try to build Salve's path into the NEWMAC Conference Championships."

"This year I am lucky to be working with another great senior class: Aiden Crean, Chase Zorner, Javier Tubatan, Luke Woodward, Michael Bagley, and Kevin Rivas.  This group has done an excellent job in driving us in our spring season and through our summer training. I know they are focused on having a successful season. As we build out our goals I know this full team, led by the senior core, is very focused on an NEWMAC campaign that returns us to the post-season tournament."

Last year the Seahawks saw NEWMAC victories over MIT and Clark and tied with Emerson, Babson and Coast Guard. In 2026 Salve Regina looks to advance to the NEWMAC Championships which begin on Tuesday, November 3.

"The Salve men's soccer team is really excited and energized to be back on the field," remarked Lawler. "Right now we are focused on our upcoming scrimmages. The team will lock in for the season opener against UMass Boston on September 1. UMass is a great opponent to open up with, not only were they in the NCAA Tournament last year, they won their first round game. Five games after that we'll be locking into NEWMAC conference play. The season is here. Summer is over."
