NEWPORT, R.I. — The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team picked up their first win of the 2026 campaign on Thursday night, overcoming an early deficit to defeat Emmanuel College, 3-1. After dropping the opening set, the Seahawks responded by winning three straight, closing the match with their most dominant offensive performance of the night.

Emmanuel controlled the opening set, taking a 25-17 decision, but Salve quickly turned the momentum around in the second. The Seahawks battled through a competitive frame before pulling out a thrilling 26-24 victory, evening the match and setting the stage for a strong second half.

Salve continued to build momentum in the third set. The Seahawks' offense became increasingly efficient, producing 11 kills with just four errors while holding Emmanuel to eight kills and a .000 hitting percentage. Salve finished the set with a 25-22 win to take its first lead of the night.

In the fourth set the Seahawks found 17 kills on just two errors, hitting an outstanding .349 as a team. The Seahawks also limited Emmanuel to seven kills and a .053 hitting percentage, pulling away for a convincing 25-18 victory to secure the match. Katelyn Beaubrook '15 led the team to her first win as as the program's head coach.

Anouk Jansen (Queen Creek, Ariz.) led the Seahawks' offensive attack with 13 kills, while Jenna DeFrancesco (Branford, Conn.) added 11 kills and hit an impressive .333. Frankie Spadorcia (Braintree, Mass.) contributed eight kills and hit .263, while Abby McRoy (Fall River, Mass.) delivered one of the match's biggest performances at the net with a team-high seven blocks.

• The Seahawks finished with a commanding 50 kills, 11 more than Emmanuel, while also holding advantages in digs, 50-44.
• Salve hit .157 for the match compared with Emmanuel's .101 and consistently improved as the night progressed.
