NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University director of athletics Dr. Sean Sullivan has announced the hiring of Tori Constantin as the university's head softball coach.

"As we conducted our search, we became certain that Tori Constantin is the right person to lead our softball program," Sullivan remarked. "As such, we are incredibly excited to welcome her to Salve Regina. Tori has spent years coaching at both the Division I and Division III levels. She has not only recruited and mentored some of the finest student-athletes in the region, but she also has experience coaching against the high caliber opponents throughout both the Power Four and NEWMAC conference environments. That broad, but impactful array of meaningful softball experiences led our search committee back to Tori, time and again."

Tori Constantin recently completed her second season as an assistant coach with the Boston College softball program. Constantin worked primarily with the defense, while assisting with hitting and recruiting. In her first season with the Eagles the team recorded a .957 fielding percentage under her leadership with 388 assists and 997 total putouts.

Before BC, Constantin spend four seasons at Rhode Island where she worked with the team's outfielders. During her tenure in Kingston, the team's outfielders improved drastically to better than a .970 fielding percentage, combining for close to 700 putouts, 40 assists and 23 errors over 153 games.  In the three seasons before Constantin arrived, URI's outfielders had a .943 fielding percentage, combining for 386 putouts, 28 assists and 25 errors over the course of 93 games.
Constantin also worked closely with hitting instruction at Rhody. In 2023, the Rams had the fifth most hits in program history (354). It was the team's most in 13 seasons. URI also drew 134 walks, the third most in program history.

Sullivan added: "Her proven understanding of what it takes to compete at a high level, as well as her vision of what is required to create a healthy and balanced culture of competitive excellence, alongside that of student development, strongly aligns with our vision for Salve Athletics. We believe Tori will make the most of this opportunity and successfully guide our softball program into its next chapter. We are thrilled for Tori, and most importantly, for our Seahawk student-athletes."

Before her time at Rhode Island, Constantin spent two seasons as an assistant coach at MIT, from 2019-21. She also served as the Director of Operations for the East Coast Firecracker softball club in Londonderry, N.H., from 2018-19. In that role, she oversaw and coordinated information for seven ECF teams ranging from 12u to 18u. Constantin developed player skill sets, coordinated fundraising events, scheduled tournaments and ran a strength and conditioning program.

Constantin served as the Director of Summer Softball Skills Camp for The Softball Company every year from 2016 through 2019. She also was a hitting and fielding instructor for Extra Innings in Wrentham, Mass., from 2011-13.

"I also want to sincerely thank Sean Sullivan and the Salve Regina University athletic department for believing in me and giving me this opportunity," Constantin added. "Sean's leadership and vision for Salve Athletics made a lasting impression throughout the process, and I am incredibly grateful for the confidence he has placed in me. I am excited to work alongside him and the entire Salve community as we build a softball program that reflects the values and excellence of the university."

A four-year letter winner in softball Central Connecticut, Constantin led the Blue Devils to a pair of appearances in Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament, as well as an appearance in the NCAA Tournament as a freshman. She was an everyday infielder, finishing her career with 10 home runs and 70 RBI in 176 contests.  She earned her degree in exercise science from CCSU in 2018 and her masters in sports administration from BC in 2024. Her uncle, Marc Sullivan, spent five seasons as a catcher with the Boston Red Sox and her grandfather, Haywood Sullivan, was a former catcher, manager, general manager, and co-owner of the Red Sox.
