MIDDLETOWN, R.I. — The Salve Regina University field hockey team posted a determined performance Wednesday evening at Gaudet Field, controlling much of the offensive action and creating numerous scoring opportunities against Johnson & Wales however, the Seahawks ultimately fell, 1-0, in a tightly contested matchup decided by a single third-period goal.
Salve established an offensive presence early, outshooting the Wildcats 4-1 in the opening quarter while creating multiple opportunities in the attacking end. The Seahawks continued to pressure Johnson & Wales throughout the second quarter, piling up eight shots and earning four penalty corners before halftime.
The Seahawks' attack was led by
Jordyn Pineau (South Dennis, Mass), who registered a team-high five shots, including four on goal.
Reese Interrante (Hopkinton, Mass.) added four shots with three on target, while
Grace Warnick (Clark, N.J.) recorded three shots and two shots on goal.
Catie Bell (Ridgefield, Conn.) contributed three shots and was also credited with a defensive save.

NOTEWORTHY:
- The fourth quarter belonged largely to the Seahawks offensively. Salve generated 10 shots and six penalty corners in the final 15 minutes, repeatedly threatening the Wildcats' lead.
- Siany Ortez finished with four saves, while Bell came up with a key defensive save in the fourth quarter to prevent Johnson & Wales from adding to its lead.
