Salve Regina doubles up Coast Guard, 14-7

FT. MYERS, Fla. - Salve Regina University baseball scored five runs in the 6th inning to run away from the Bears of the United States Coast Guard Academy and score a 14-7 victory on Sunday, March 10 in Fort Myers, Florida.

It was a slow game with no one scoring within the first two innings of the game. Salve Regina took the lead third inning with junior Dan Donohue (Westbury, CT), junior Tyler Colby (Easton, Conn.), and junior Nick Dell'Anno (Reading, Mass.) scored. The Bears had one run in the third inning by senior Tyler Babkiewich (Golden, CO) who scord on an error by third base after senior Ed Sella (Silver Spring, MD) got to first base.

The fourth inning was just as exciting for the Seahawks after freshman Ryan Kelly (Waldwick, NJ) hit a single, stole second base and advanced to third base and scored. Sophomore Joe Haley (North Kingstown, RI) also scored after walking and advancing to third base after Tyler Colby hit a double.

In the fifth inning, freshman Rick Cianci (Chester, NJ) and sophomore Matt Conroy (Philadelphia, PA) after an error by the second base men for the Bears. Junior Dan Donohue (Westbury, NY) also scored in this inning by Colby singled and there was a passed ball which moved everyone ahead one base. For the Bears, senior Nolan Gallagher (New Milford, Conn.) scored after his single and a double sophomore Tyler Betts (Fort Myers, FL).

The sixth inning, Salve Regina scored a total of five times extending their lead over the Bears. Becker got walked who scored first and freshman Matt Marchica (Westminster, VT) scored as a runner for Matt Conroy who got walked as well. Dan Donohue and Ryan Kelly were the next two to come across home base after Kelly getting hit by a pitch and Donohue hitting a double. Joe Haley hit a triple and was the last one to score in this inning with Tyler Colby got an RBI.

The Bears scored four runs during their last at bats making the final score 14-7. Babkiewich scored for the second time in this inning. Followed by, Ed Sella, Tyler Betts and sophomore Matt Hanks (Chesapeake, VA).
