NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman Kristen Hickey (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) as its Rookie of the Week for softball (March 2-8).

Rookie of the Week - Hickey, a designated player/first baseman, collected two hits and drove in two runs in three games as the Seahawks opened the 2015 campaign with by splitting four contests at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. Contributing to both Salve Regina victories, Hickey picked up a double, a run scored and one RBI in a 13-3 win over Becker, while adding a single in a 4-0 triumph over Rochester.

"We are so excited for Kristen to be a part of our program," said second-year head coach Jessica DePolito. "She provides a spark to our offense and is the ultimate teammate."

The Seahawks continue their week in Florida with six more games including a pair against Pennsylvania schools - Moravian and Haverford - on Monday morning.
