NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University softball team earned a sweep of Curry College with two 3-1 victories on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Toppa Field.

Series and Streaks
Today's games marked the 60th and 61st meetings of Salve Regina and Curry. The Seahawks have now won three in a row over the Colonels and own a 38-22-1 record in the all-time series.

Seahawks Stars of the Day
1 – Salve Regina junior Kelsey Boarman (North Dighton, Mass.) struck out eight and did not allow an earned run in a complete game of work.
2 – Salve Regina senior Nicole Parry (Quincy, Mass.) struck out seven while allowing one run on four hits.
3 – Salve Regina freshman Emily Woznick (Sandy Hook, Conn.) went 2-3 with a double in game two and drove in the tying run in the bottom of the first.

Key Stat of the Day
The Colonels led 1-0 in each game but could not hold the lead, losing 3-1 in both games.

Turning Points
In game one the Seahawks trailed 1-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth. Lindsey Flourent (New Bedford, Mass.) led off and drew a walk, then advanced to third on a double by Nikki Bukovsky (Wesport, Conn.). Groundouts from Elizabeth Lombardo (Thomaston. Conn.)and Kara O'Riley (Acton, Mass.) brought in Flourent and Bukovsky giving the Seahawks a 2-1 lead.

In game two the Seahawks also trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but tied it in the bottom half of the frame and took the lead in the second. The Seahawks led 3-1 the rest of the way but the Colonels threatened in the top of the seventh with their backs against the wall. Marissa Bruno (Milford, Conn.) led off the inning with a double putting a runner in scoring position with no outs. Parry was able to get Jessica Saluti (Braintree, Mass.) to ground out, then fanned Kevi Oatway (East Hartford, Conn.). Down to their final out Parry got pinch hitter Jordan Lizotte (Rehoboth, Mass.) to ground out to second, giving the Seahawks a sweep of the Colonels.
