Summary
The Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team held visiting Curry College to two goals in the second half, one in each quarter, to earn a 9-7 victory on Senior Day.

Series and Streaks
This was the 20th meeting between Salve Regina and Curry. The Seahawks own a 12-8 record in the all-time series and have now won five in a row over the Colonels.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina senior Nick LoCicero (Lynbrook, N.Y.) - scored twice, assisted on three other goals, collected five ground balls, and caused two turnovers.
  2. Curry junior Tom Cashin (Boxford, Mass.) - scored three times, two of which were the only goals of the second half for the colonels.
  3. Curry senior Shane O'Brien (East Falmouth, Mass.) - made 19 saves, many from point blank range.

Turning Point
Tom Cashin tied the game 6-6 with a goal late in the third quarter but the Seahawks responded with a 3-0 run. Nick LoCicero scored with 3:45 left in the third then Alex Makoske (Shoreham, N.Y.) netted one on the man-up to start the fourth, before Matt Heeter (Wading River, N.Y.) capped the run with his first of the day with 5:52 left. Cashin would cash in again 19 seconds later to narrow the gap to two goals, but the Colonels could not find the back of the net again, held to just one shot in the final five minutes.

  • The Seahawks honored their six seniors before the game. Eric Backus, Jake Gonzalez, Matt Ikawa, Danny Kelly, Nick LoCicero, and Jacob Scammon were all honored with a special pregame ceremony. 
  • Matt D'Amore (Duxbury, Mass.) made 11 saves in the win to improve to 8-8 on the season in net for Salve Regina.
  • The Seahawks held a 40-33 shot advantage and 28-18 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Salve Regina cashed in on 50% of their man-up situations, going 3-for-6 while holding the Colonels to 1-for-8 with the man advantage.
