Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - And then there were three. No. 1 seed Salve Regina University softball put itself in the championship round on Saturday as the only undefeated team with a 3-1 victory over No. 2 seed Western New England University, in the final game of a four-game slate at Toppa Field. No. 3 Roger Williams University survived a pair of elimination games with shutouts in both (6-0 over No. 8 Gordon College, and 2-0 over No. 4 Endicott College).

The top three seeds remain with Western New England and Roger Williams set to play an elimination game on Saturday (11 a.m.) at Toppa Field, before the winner gets to face Salve Regina.

Game 10
#1 Salve Regina 3, #2 Western New England 1
The Seahawks trailed 1-0 after an unearned run with two outs in the top of the third. Salve Regina starting pitcher Kelsey Boarman (No. Dighton, Mass.), the league's pitcher of the year, allowed just two hits, both singles, while striking out seven Golden Bears.

Salve Regina put its three runs on the board in the fourth inning. All-CCC catcher Emily Woznick (Sandy Hook, Conn.) led off the frame with a single and moved to third on Amanda Riley's (Barrington, N.H.) double. The runners remained at second and third on a groundout before Woznick tied the score on Nikki Bukovsky's (Westport, Conn.) fielder's choice grounder.

A walk to Lexi Soucie (No. Easton, Mass.) loaded the bases and then another free pass to Kristen Hickey (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) forced in the go-ahead run for the Seahawks. Leftfielder Lindsey Florent (New Bedford, Mass.), who had two hits in the game, drove in the third run with a sacrifice fly, scoring Bukovsky.

Series and Streaks
Salve Regina has won six straight games in CCC postseason play. The Seahawks and Golden Bears split their regular-season doubleheader in Springfield, Mass., last month. Salve Regina has defeated Western New England twice in a row in the postseason; the Golden Bears hold a 16-13 edge in the all-time series.
