Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Junior attack Brendan Treacy (Danvers, Mass.) buried the game-winner with 3:07 remaining in overtime to give the Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team a thrilling 10-9 victory over Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday evening.

Series and Streaks
The Seahawks have won four in a row in the series and lead 16-9 all-time over Curry.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina junior Brendan Treacy scored his second of the game to give the Seahawks the win.
  2. Curry freshman Tim Sullivan (East Walpole, Mass.) scored three times and handed out an assist to lead the Colonels attack.
  3. Salve Regina senior Ryan Chambers (Wakefield, Mass.) made 15 saves to improve to 3-4 in net.

Turning Point
Salve Regina scored three times in the fourth quarter to take the lead with 1:45 to go off a goal from Liam Cooney (Portsmouth, R.I.). The Colonels won the ensuing draw but delayed their attack while they were on the man-down. Once at full strength under 45 seconds to go they went to work, and Connor Bryant (Methuen, Mass.) fed Josh Hunter (East Bridgewater, Mass.) out of a double-team who snapped in the equalizer with 37 seconds left in regulation. In overtime the Seahawks only needed one possession to end it. Justin Haverly (Clifton Park, N.Y.) won the draw back to teammate Jack Naglieri (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) and the Seahawks set up their offense. Brendan Laundry (Swampscott, Mass.) danced his way down the left side and found Treacy alone in the middle who picked his pot and snapped the game-winner home past the Colonels netminder.

Quick Hits

  • Brendan Laundry scored three times and had an assist to lead the Seahawks scoring output.
  • Evan Flandys (Leominster, Mass.) made five saves in the first half before being relieved by Bobby Cannan (Bernardsville, N.J.) who stopped nine shots in the second half to fall to 0-3 in net for the Colonels.
  • Salve Regina held a 40-37 edge in shots.
  • Both teams went 1-for-6 on the man-up.
  • Sawyer Allen (Sutton, Mass.) won 12-22 draws for the Colonels while Kieran Hughes (Oradell, N.J.) won 3-8 and Justin Haverly won 7-15 for the Seahawks.
