Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. (March 30, 2022) - Salve Regina University graduate student Dylan Ketch (Clinton, Conn.) had a 1-for-3 day at the plate with three runs scored and an RBI while handling three different Seahawk pitchers from behind the plate in an 11-3 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) baseball victory against visiting Curry College at Reynolds Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Starting pitcher Brayden Clark (Beverly, Mass.) worked five innings without allowing an earned run. Curry (7-6, 1-2 CCC) collected just four hits against Clark, all singles, while the sophomore righty struck out four Colonels.
Salve Regina (9-6, 3-0 CCC) scored three times in the first inning when Matt D'Amato (Midland Park, N.J.) led off with a single and came home on a triple by Michael Breen (Auburn, Mass.). Tyler Cannoe (Schenectady, N.Y.) followed with a base on balls and Ketch delivered a sacrifice fly. Cannoe crossed the plate on Tyler Petrosino's (Beverly, Mass.) two-out RBI double.
Cannoe's chopper over third base brought Dustin Siqueira (Trumbull, Conn.) for a 4-0 score in the second inning.
Julian Jaume (Staten Island, N.Y.) had a two-out RBI single in the fourth that broughtin an unearned run for the visitors. Another unearned run was driven in by first baseman Jason Leonard (Dedham, Mass.) in the fifth.
Brandon Grover's (Ashland, Mass.) bases-loaded walk pushed the Seahawk lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth.
Conor Hanlon (Beverly, Mass.) had a leadoff solo blast to right in the sixth that cut the Curry deficit to 5-3, before pinch-hitter Justice Welch (Hackensack, N.J.) delivered the biggest blow - a three-run triple in the bottom of the sixth. Sean O'Malley (Darien, Conn.) added his own triple in the Seahawk seventh for the final score, 11-3.
Clark improved to 2-0 on the season and lowered his earned run average to 1.07; he was followed on the bump by sophomore Graham Jeffries (Chelsmford, Mass.) and senior Andrew Roman (Monson, Mass.).
