Box Score SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Seahawks shutout the Mount Holyoke Lyons 3-0 in NEWMAC action Saturday with help from Julia Decker and Kira Spedden.
Spedden scored the game's opening goal and Decker backed her up with the two remaining goals of the day. Salve Regina's defensive front made Lyons' goalkeeper Rachel Katzenberg face 23 shots on goal. Seahawk goalkeeper Bryn Protheroe went up against 11 shots on goal during the contest. This win adds to Salve Regina's conference success making the Seahawks 3-3 in the NEWMAC. Mount Holyoke falls to 1-5 in 2023 conference wins and losses.

All-Time Series: The last meeting of the Seahawks and Lyons was a 3-0 loss on October 16, 2000, which made the all-time record 1-0 in favor of the Lyons. Now Salve Regina and Mount Holyoke are 1-1 in all-time games.
NOTEWORTHY:
- After three unsuccessful shots by the Seahawks, at 10:51 into the first period Kira Spedden scored the first goal of the game. Spedden was assisted by Julia Decker.
- The score remained 1-0 with the Seahawks ahead until the final period, despite the Lyons having three penalty corner opportunities in the second quarter and four in the third quarter.
- With 15 minutes remaining on the clock the Seahawks decided that a one-point game was not enough, and Decker took action against Mount Holyoke. She scored a goal at 47:35 into the game off an assist from Shannon Kennedy to bring the score to 2-0.
- Decker closed out the game with the Seahawks third and final goal at 53:01 into the matchup. She was assisted by Liv Santiago.

"It was a huge road win for us," said head coach Jennifer Foster. "It was great to see our team take control as the game went on and execute our game plan."

The next home contest for the Seahawks is on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. against the Clark University Cougars, a fellow NEWMAC contender.
