Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The Salve Regina offense continued to roll on Sunday as the Seahawks dominated the Mount Union Purple Raiders by a score of 7-3 at Lake Myrtle Complex.
The Seahawks scored early and often against Mount Union, scoring six runs through four innings of offense, and it started with some Eric Cirella small ball. With no outs, Seahawks catcher Gianfranco Messina (Cranston, R.I.) laid down a first-and-third squeeze bunt that allowed Matt D'Amato (Midland Park, N.J.) to get Salve on the board. Next, Christian Homa (Fairfield, Conn.) singled up the middle to get two more runs across in the third inning.
In the fourth, it was more of the same. D'Amato notched his second single of the game to score Tyler Petrosino (Beverly, Mass.), before stealing second base during the ensuing at-bat. With two runners in scoring position, Messina delivered once again on a single to right field to score two more Seahawks to make it 6-0.
The Seahawks pitching rebounded after an uncharacteristic 11-walk game the day prior, striking out 14 and walking just one batter. Nick Callano () got his first win of the year, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five. Freshman reliever Kyle Carozza () got the save in impressive fashion, pitching two full innings and striking out all six batters he faced to end the game.
The Seahawks (3-2, 0-0 CCC) look ahead to battling with William Paterson University later on Sunday.
