Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Salve Regina posted a crooked number against Springfield College in the bottom of the first inning with nine runs, while never allowing a single hit in a seven-inning smack down in a 16-0 mercy rule win on Tuesday.
The Seahawks offense has been spraying the ball all over the field throughout the week, averaging over 12 hits and 10 runs per game over the last four games in Florida, going 3-1 over that span. The method to the magic has been hitting with purpose, executing defensively, and continuously delivering on the mound. The Seahawks have been truly impressive in all aspects of the game and were firing on all cylinders on Tuesday.
After a gorgeous double play in the first inning, Mike Breen (Auburn, Mass.) delivered on offense with a two-RBI single. A couple at-bats later, catcher Shea Donovan (Milton, Mass.) made excellent contact to drive a ball to deep right field, ending up on second base with a two-RBI, stand-up double. Following a first-inning pitching change, captain Dustin Sequeira (Trumbull, Conn.) shot the ball the other way down the right field line to drive in two more Salve runs with a triple.
The true tale of the tape was the Seahawks pitching and the epic turnaround the Salve Regina pitching has seen throughout its week down south. Against UT-Dallas, the Seahawks walked eleven batters and still won the game 7-3. Seahawks allowed eleven runs to the Pioneers of William Paterson in an 11-10 loss. Perhaps something was in the morning coffee as starter Sean Mulligan (Verona, N.J.), middle-man Brody Valentine (Hockessin, Del.), and reliever Eddie Hardiman (Danvers, Mass.) contributed to a two-walk, one-error, no-hit box score that resulted in a 16-0 Seahawks win.
The Seahawks (4-3) wrap up their week away from home with one final matchup versus the RIT Tigers, a team the Seahawks have not seen since 2019 in the RussMatt Invitational Tournament.
