NEWPORT, R.I. -- Three members of the Salve Regina University men's soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches Region II honors when the organization announced the first of its postseason awards on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore
Daniel Goba was named to the Region II first team. Seahawk graduate student
Jordan Borges and senior
Ethan David, both captains, were named to the Region II third team.
Goba earned the first all-region honor of his career after leading the team with 14 goals and five assists for 33 points in 21 games. He made 20 starts and ranked second in the region with five game-winning goals, second in goals and second in points per game (1.57).
Borges, who earns his third straight all-region honor, led the Seahawks in assists (seven) and finished second on the squad in points (13). He played and started in 15 contests before an injury halted his season in October.
David claims his first-ever all-region accolade after playing in all 21 games and scoring one goal -- the game-winner against Springfield College in the final regular season contest that clinched the #2 Seed for the Seahawks in the NEWMAC playoffs.
Salve Regina (10-8-3, 4-1-3 NEWMAC) earned its first-ever NEWMAC postseason bid, hosted and defeated Coast Guard, 2-1, in a conference semifinal before falling 2-0 in the league championship game at #11 Babson College.
