Burris' early homer can't stop #6/7 Seahawks in 15-5 win

NEWPORT, R.I. (Tuesday, May 2, 2024) -- Salve Regina baseball notched another win in a successful 31-5 season against the UMass Boston Beacons in a 15-5 game. 

Bostyn Burris got the Beacons an early lead with a solo home run as he appeared second in the batting order. Mike Gorman scored on a sacrifice bunt in the top of the second inning to increase UMass Boston's lead to 2-0. 

The Seahawks broke open the contest in the bottom of the second inning. After Tyler Petrosino doubled and advanced to third on the throw, Hunter Yaworski made it home to make it a tied game. The Seahawks made it through the batting order and Brady Smolinski's double allowed Petrosino to score. This inched the Seahawks ahead 3-2 but Salve Regina wasn't done there. Three more athletes made it home to set the Seahawks ahead 6-2 and they never looked back.

All-Time Series: The Beacons fell to the Seahawks in their only doubleheader last year on April 08, 2023. In the first game Salve Regina broke away 9-5 and in game two it was a 10-6 margin. Since the 1987 spring season the Seahawks are 7-7 against the Beacons.
