DARTMOUTH, Mass.

Anna Weygang and
Kelsey Chiasson set new school records when Salve Regina University women's track and field started the spring 2025 season competing at the Corsair Classic hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
Weygang broke her own school record in the women's 5000 meter run and qualified for the New England Division III Championship with a time of 18:15.39. This time won the event. Meanwhile,
Kelsey Chiasson set a new school record in the shot put and placed fourth with a throw of 10.91m.
Isabella Hastings finished fourth in the 5000 meters while also qualifying for the NED3 meet.
The team of
Angelina Regels,
Jocelyn Howell,
Sophia Molfetto, and
Olivia Tacconi came in fifth in the women's 4x100 meter relay with a time of 53.49. Regels took 15th in the women's 400 meter dash followed by
Jaida Beaulieu in 25th.
Olivia Tacconi was also a multiple point scorer placing fifth out of 44 athletes in the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 13.21 and eighth in the women's 200 meter dash in 27.84.
Victoria Bird and
Natalya Vega placed ninth and tenth respectively in the women's javelin throw. Bird threw 29.95m and Vega was close behind with a 29.08m throw.
Sophia Molfetto came in fourth in the women's triple jump with a score of 10.02m and shw saw a ninth place finish with 4.81m in the women's long jump.
"t was a cold day out there, but the girls battled hard to come away with some great performances," remarked head women's track and field coach
Andrew Furst. "I am excited to see how they build on this weekend and continue to come together as a team. Our next meet at Coast Guard is going to be a fun one."
Overall, Salve Regina placed 11th out of 13. Worcester Polytechnic Institute won the meet with 108 points, followed by Springfield College in second with 87 points.
