Tacconi sets new school record at NEWMAC Championships day one

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Friday, April 25,2025)-- Sophomore on the Salve Regina University women's track and field team Olivia Tacconi broke her own school record on day one of the NEWMAC Championships hosted by Mount Holyoke. 

Tacconi set a new 100m school record in the trials on Friday with a time of 12.53. This time has her sitting in fifth and qualified her to run in the finals on Saturday.

Maya Korczak ran the 100m hurdles in a time of 16.3 which has her sitting in eighth place and sets her up for finals on Saturday.

Kelsey Chiasson currently sits in seventh place following the first day of the Heptathlon. On day two she will compete in the long jump, javelin and 800m.

Sophia Molfetto jumped a distance of 5.03m in the long jump which gave her an eighth place finish and secured the Seahawks their first team point of the meet.

Victoria Bird finished 10th just missing out on the finals in the javelin. During the competition she threw a new personal best of 30.87m in her final meet as a Seahawk.
