NEW LONDON, Conn.
(Saturday, April 12,2025)-- Salve Regina University women's track and field closed out the two-day Silfen Invitational meet with
Anna Weygang and
Kelsey Chiasson breaking school records for the second time this season.
Weygang ran 18:07.65 in the 5k and Chiasson threw 10.92m in the shot put. Chiasson's throw placed her fifth in the event.
In the same race as Weygang,
Isabella Hastings ran a personal best in the 5k with 18:14.33 which would have also broken the school record if not for Anna finishing ahead.
Sophia Molfetto placed second in the Long Jump and sixth in Triple Jump.
Natalya Vega finished sixth in the Javelin with a mark of 30.44m which was the best of the season for her.
Olivia Tacconi came in third in the 100m and fifth in the 200m. Both times were season's bests.
"This was a great week for the team overall," said head women's track and field coach
Andrew Furst. "The consistency of the team continues to impress me. They are continually supporting one another and keep raising the bar each meet."
Women's track and field competes again next Saturday, April 19, at the Trinity College Invitational in Hartford, Connecticut.
