HARTFORD, Conn.
(Saturday, April 19,2025)-- Salve Regina University women's track and field competed at their fourth meet of the season on Saturday hosted by the Trinity College Bantams.
As an individual,
Olivia Tacconi finished tenth in the 200m with a time of 26.28, which broke the existing school record of 26.31. That record was held by Tara Ruddy and has stood since 2011.
Anna Weygang took fourth in the 1500m with a time of 4:49.82. This time hit the qualifying standard for the New England Division III Championship.
The 4x100m relay of
Angelina Regels,
Jocelyn Howell, Maya Korzcak, and
Olivia Tacconi hit a season's best of 51.04. The ladies continue to inch closer to the existing school record from 2014 of 50.82.
Christia Assi finished sixth in the 5000m while battling through some oppressive heat to conclude our day on the track.
In the field events,
Natalya Vega and Tori Bird finished sixth and seventh in the javelin throw and
Kelsey Chiasson finished seventh in the shot put.Â
"We had a great meet this weekend at Trinity, remarked head coach
Andrew Furst. "We finally got some warm weather, and it definitely lifted the spirits of the team. This was a great sendoff meet to our regular season. Momentum continues to build for our ladies, and we can't wait for the NEWMAC Championships this weekend at Mount Holyoke."
