NEW LONDON, Conn. (Saturday, April 5,2025)-- Salve Regina University women's track and field withstood the rainy and windy conditions to compete at the United States Coast Guard Spring Invite and Jocelyn Howell, Meena Goswami, Megan Curran, Christia Assi, Anna Weygang, and Jaida Beaulieu all recorded personal bests along with the Seahawks posting several high-performing results.

Sophomore school record holder Olivia Tacconi finished fourth and eighth in the 100m and 200m respectively. These efforts help secure points for the Seahawks and her 100m time of 12.89 was her best of the season. 

First year Kaleigh Nelligan made her season debut in the pole vault and cleared a mark of 2.35m which was good enough to place sixth and award the team three points. First year Sophia Molfetto placed sixth in the triple jump and third in the long jump, where she set a personal best of 5.03m. 

Victoria Bird, Natalya Vega, and Isabella Gagnier combined for nine points in the javelin throw. The Seahawk trio took fifth, sixth, and seventh in the event.

Kelsey Chiasson, who established a new team record in the shot put last week, finished sixth in with a throw of 10.04m and just missed out on point scoring in the high jump.

"The team's experience at UMass Dartmouth last week was a great learning opportunity for the athletes," remarked head women's track and field coach Andrew Furst. "The lessons they learned from that meet, such as how to keep a more positive mindset and executing their individual race plans when faced with non-ideal conditions, served them well this week. We will continue to hope for better weather in the weeks ahead, but until then, the ladies will tackle the challenges of each week head on.

The Seahawks will return to action next week at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12.
