SERIES HISTORY

  • The Seahawks have won three of the last four meetings including a 4-3 final in an elimination game a year ago.

POSTSEASON HISTORY

LAST MEETINGS
  • #11/#12 Salve Regina University baseball scored 11 runs in the second-inning of its second game with the United States Coast Guard Academy to salvage a split of the NEWMAC doubleheader on Reynolds Field in Newport, Rhode Island.
  • Salve Regina won, 12-2, in seven innings (Mercy Rule with 10-run advantage) after Coast Guard claimed a 10-5 victory in the opener.
  • The Seahawks brought a season-high 15 batters to the plate during the outburst which benefited from five base hits, five bases on balls, and a couple of fielding miscues.
  • Starter Kyle Carozza (W, 4-0) enjoyed the run support and cruised through five innings of work allowing just two hits while striking out three batters.
  • Matt Stokes, Nate Ruehs, and Brandon Grover all reached twice and scored both times in the second inning. In the opener,
  • Hunter Yaworski led off the second with a double before advancing to third on a passed ball and scored the tying run on a throwing error.
  • The Seahawks took a lead (2-1) in the third when Shane Williams led off with a double and moved two bases on consecutive fly balls by Evan O'Rourke and Christian Homa.
  • The Bears re-tied the score in the fifth and then jumped ahead in the sixth with a Jack Steel single that scored Rick Barkley.
  • Bears' starter Vito Giordano (W, 4-0) went six innings for the victory.
  • Salve Regina (14-6, 3-2 NEWMAC) gave Coast Guard (13-8, 3-1 NEWMAC) its first league defeat..
