MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - The NEWMAC has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending September 28, 2025, and Salve Regina University sophomore linebacker James Minotti has been selected as the Defensive Player of the Week for football.

Sophomore James Minotti (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) paced the Seahawks' defense with eight tackles, including five solo stops, and added an interception in the team's 28-20 victory over SUNY Maritime.

"It is such an honor to be named a NEWMAC player of the week- and to be able to get it two weeks in a row shows at what a high level of play James is at right now," says Salve Regina head coach Kevin Gilmartin. "He's been so much fun to watch play this year."

The Seahawks (4-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) play on the road against the Pride of Springfield College (2-2, 1-0 NEWMAC) who won their league opener today at MIT, 31-7. The game will be broadcast on FloCollege.
