Box Score NEWTON, Mass. – Freshman Cam Brazill (Ridgewood, N.J.) scored his first career hat trick for the Salve Regina men's lacrosse team, but Lasell scored three-straight goals to hold off the Seahawks for a 17-13 victory in Newton, Mass.
After a relatively quiet opening quarter, both teams broke out in scoring. Junior Curtis McKeon (West Haven, Conn.) got the Seahawks on the board with his first goal of the game. Lasell and Salve Regina swapped goals before the Lasers scored three-straight in just a minute of action to take a 5-2 lead. Senior Taylor Braun (Commack, N.Y.) cut into the Lasell lead with 3:35 left before halftime to give the Lasers a 5-3 lead going into the locker room.
The Seahawks opened the third with three-straight in a span of 30 seconds to take their first lead of the game. Freshman James Fee (Massapequa, N.Y.) took a pass from Brazill before Brazill scored after a failed clear attempt by the Lasers. Sophomore Steven Russell (Bayport, N.Y.) gave the Seahawks the lead with his third goal of the season.
After Lasell scored two pairs of goals around McKeon's second goal of the game to make the score 9-7 in favor of Lasell, Braun and senior Francis McNulty (Durham, Conn.) sandwiched a pair of goals around sophomore Robbie Palazzo's (Redding, Conn.) first goal of the game. Sophomore Dylan Fernandes (Billerica, Mass.) scored the last goal of the quarter to give Lasell an 11-9 lead with one quarter left to play.
Junior Dan Parks (Neconset, N.Y.) and Brazill both scored in the opening 2:26 to even the score at 11, but Lasell scored three-straight goals to take a 14-11 lead with 7:44 to play. Freshman Jake Pantani (Branford, Conn.) and sophomore James O'Brien (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) scored back to back goals for Salve Regina, but Lasell answered with the final three goals of the game to win, 17-13.
Freshman Brian Farina (Jenkintown, Pa.) made nine saves in the net for the Seahawks while freshman Chris Thomas-Ikier (Burlington, Mass.) made 16 stops.
McKeon led the Seahawks with five points (2g, 3a) while Brazill had four points (3g ,1a).
Salve Regina returns to action when the Seahawks head to Keene, N.H. to face Keene St. on March 6. The opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
