In Game 1 the Seahawks got a complete game from starter Dominic Perachi (Washington Depot, Conn.) who tossed seven innings and racked up a career-high 17 strikeouts while allowing just his first earned run of the season to improve to 6-0 on the mound. The Seahawks never trailed and broke the game open in the sixth with a three-run homer from Brandon Grover (Ashland, Mass.). Chris Veneruso (Westport, Conn.) followed that up with a two-run shot in the seventh, the first home run of his career, to give the Seahawks a 10-1 lead. A flyout from Dylan Ketch (Clinton, Conn.) scored Justice Welch (Hackensack, N.J.) in the eighth to give Salve Regina a 11-1 mercy-rule victory.
In Game 2 the Seahawks again got a dominant outing from their starting pitcher. This time it was graduate student Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I.) who went eight innings and struck out 12 batters while allowing just one run. The Seahawks never trailed and again separated themselves from the Leoapards in the sixth inning. Leading 2-0 the Seahawks put up five runs in the bottom of the sixth aided by back-to-back singles for Jared Beniers (Abington, Mass.) and Michael Breen (Auburn, Mass.) which brought in three runs, then a Leopard error and an RBI groundout for Tyler Petrosino (Beverly, Mass.) rounded out the scoring in the frame.
