HOW IT HAPPENED

Shots and tremendous saves marked the sun filled afternoon at historic Toppa Field.  Defending LEC Champion, UMass Boston got on the board first, just 15 second into the game.  After a scoring drought of over 10 minutes, the teams traded goals twice in the final 4:07 of the first quarter, sending the Beacons into the second frame with a narrow 3-2 lead.

In the first three minutes of the second, the Seahawks netted the tying and go-ahead goals. The lead was short-lived, however, as UMass scored two, turning a one-score deficit into a one-score advantage, 5-4.  A pair of goals in the final three minutes from Salve's Max Beauchamp sent the Seahawks into the halftime break up 6-5.

In the third, three quick Salve goals gave the Seahawks a comfortable four goal lead. UMass Boston cut the deficit to 9-7. The Beacons' run was quickly snuffed out by a 5-0 Salve run spanning the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth.  Trailing 17-9, the Beacons put away two goals in the final ten seconds but it was too little, too late.  Salve Regina took the game by a final score of 17-11.
