BEVERLY, MASS. -- On Sunday, April 14, the Salve Regina women's rugby team took the pitch for the Colonial Coast Rugby Conference championship tournament. Starting off the day with wins over Plymouth State University and UMaine-Farmington, the Seahawks would lose to Endicott in pool play and in an incredibly hard fought championship that saw Salve Regina erase a ten-point deficit to the defending national champions.
Junior Emily Turcotte (Auburn, Mass.) was awarded woman of the tournament.
Salve Regina sevens finishes the year 11-2 with 58 tries scored and 23 against. They outscored opponents 328-125 on the year.
The Seahawks will be back in action this upcoming weekend against Bentley University at Fort Adams and will wrap up the season in the two-day Beast of the East rugby tournament in Portsmouth, R.I.
