MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - The NEWMAC has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending November 16, 2025, and Salve Regina University senior forward Sofia Neary has been selected as the Defensive Player of the Week for women's basketball.
Senior Sofia Neary (Wayne, N.J.) totaled seven blocked shots and five steals on the week, while averaging a double-double of 13.6 rebounds and 14.0 points. Neary was named to the Hamilton Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament Team after being the high scorer in the weekend event for the Seahawks. Neary posted double-doubles in Clinton, New York, with 30 points and 15 rebounds against the hosts before 22 points and 17 boards versus the Cardinals.
The Seahawks (1-3, 0-0 NEWMAC) play their second home game of the season on Tuesday night (7 p.m.) at Rodgers Recreation Center. The game against Eastern Connecticut State University will be broadcast on FloCollege.
