MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - The NEWMAC has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending March 1, 2026, and Salve Regina University senior outfielder Shane Williams has been selected as the Offensive Player of the Week for baseball.
Senior Shane Williams (Georgetown, Mass.) reached base safely and scored at least one run in all five games for the Seahawks (4-1). On the base paths, he was 4-for-4 in steals and came home to score a dozen (12) runs in five games. He drove in a baker's dozen (13) with eight hits (and a pair of sacrifice flies), which included a double and two home runs (one of them a grand slam).
Seahawk head coach Eric Cirella '05 on Williams: "Shane was a huge catalyst for an offense that scored 27 runs on Sunday. He hit for power, scored runs, stole some bags, and played a great right field. He has the ability to beat opposing teams in so many ways. He put us up 5-0 with one swing of the bat in game 2 yesterday against a good Montclair State team. And he hit it to the deepest part of the field with the wind blowing straight in. That was impressive."
Salve Regina (4-1; 0-0 NEWMAC) hosts University of Southern Maine this weekend in a three-game series with all games scheduled to broadcast on FloCollege.
