NEWPORT, R.I.-- Salve Regina University men's ice hockey and men's lacrosse have collectivley added six athletes to the 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District® At-Large team.
To be eligible student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games.
Men's ice hockey forward,
Matthew Brunton '26, received a Habershaw Stewardship Award from the Salve Regina Athletics Department after the 2025-26 season. The honor recognizes individuals who have earned the respect of fellow athletes, coaches, and administration for superior athletics and for continually demonstrating those qualities associated with good sportsmanship. In addition, Brunton was named 2024-25 New England Hockey Conference All-Academic Team.
Aidan Connolly '26, men's ice hockey forward, was a 2026 semifinalist for the Joe Concannon Award and was among 36 semifinalists for the Silver Anniversary and 25th award. Connolly is also a forward on the Senior Men's Irish National Team. Connolly was also a member of the 2024-25 New England Hockey Conference All-Academic Team.
Jonathan Hammel '26 joined Brunton with a Habershaw Stewardship Award from the Salve Regina Athletics Department after his senior season and was a member of the 2024-25 New England Hockey Conference All-Academic Team. For 2025-26 Hammel scored 11 goals and had 10 assists for 21 total points.
Luke Castillo '28, defensemen on the men's lacrosse team, was the team leader in ground balls (45) and caused turnovers (25). Castillo was a member of the 2026 NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team.
Daniel Naglieri '26, men's lacrosse attackman, was named to the 2026 and 2025 NEWMAC First Team All- Conference and was a two-time NEWMAC Athlete of the Week in 2026. He was also named to the 2026 NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team. This spring he recorded his 100th career goal, his 100th career assist, and his 200th career point scored. He became the third highest all-time points leader at Salve with 128 goals and 110 assists. Naglieri was also selected for the 2026 East/West NEILA All-Star Game.
As a midfielder on the men's lacrosse team
Heath Sumwalt '28 was added to the 2026 NEWMAC Second Team All-Conference. He started all 15 games this season and contributed 20 goals and five assists for 25 total points. He was the fourth ranked Seahawk this season in goals scored and total points. He was also named to the 2026 NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team.
