NEWPORT, R.I.-- The Salve Regina University women's and men's cross country teams alongside head coach
Kacie Gallo '08 have published their 2026 fall racing schedule and are ready to bring on the competition season.
The season debut is on Saturday, September 5, at the third annual University of Hartford Invitational. On Saturday, September 12 the women's and men's cross country teams will next travel to Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn. for the George Suitor Invitational, hosted by Trinity College. Anna Weygang '27 led the Seahawks with a second place finish (19:43 for 5000m) and 1:03 improvement from this course in 2024. On the men's side rookie
Cole Smith '29 led the men's team for the second week in a row (18:24 for 5000m).
"Women's cross country is looking to seniors
Isabella Hastings and
Anna Weygang to lead the team," said Gallo. "The two just missed the nationals cut off last season. Senior captain
Ava Dexter, junior
Christia Assi, and sophomores
Emma McFadden and
Delaney Roache will be key returners for the Seahawks."
The teams will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on September 19, and at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Penn. at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course the following weekend. To close out the regular season the Seahawks will race at the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, October 3, and at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College, on Saturday, October 17.
"On the men's side, junior
Justin Ruffler will lead the men's team alongside senior captain
Gianni Soucy, and junior
Gabe Victoria," stated Gallo. "Both teams are looking to improve their place at the conference meet."
On October 31, the Salve cross country teams will have the opportunity to face conference rivals at the NEWMAC Championships to culminate the season.
