Hawks halt Seahawks in semis

BRISTOL, R.I. - Defending champion Roger Williams University defeated the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team 20-4 in the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first and never looked back on their way to their eighth straight CCC title game.

Salve Regina got goals from Emma Breen, Brynn Mendes, Nicole Smith , and Kelly Ventura to round out their scoring while goalie Grace Haesche made 11 saves in 45 minutes of action. Kiely Callahan came on in relief for the fourth quarter and made four saves. 

The Hawks held a 45-16 edge in shots.

Roger Williams will now face Endicott College in the CCC Championship while Salve Regina sees its 2022 season come to a close.
