NEWPORT, R.I.-- Sophomore defender Adelaide Baird (Springfield, VA) on the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team was named to the 2026 NEWMAC First Team All-Conference.

"I am so proud of Adelaide for earning NEWMAC First-Team All-Conference," stated head women's lacrosse coach Meg Malloy. "Adelaide played with relentless drive this season - every game showed growth, grit, and a team-first mentality that made a real impact on the field. Her leadership continues to develop, as she leads by example through her work ethic, preparation, and accountability. She is a dependable teammate who contributes to a positive and supportive team culture, always willing to step up, encourage others, and do what is needed for the success of the group."

In 2026 Baird led the Seahawks in ground balls (42), and caused turnovers (28). She also scored one goal and had one assist as a defender.

In addition to her athletic prowess in the sport of lacrosse, as a two-sport athlete, Baird has been a strong contributor on the field hockey turf over the past two years.

"Adelaide worked her way into our starting lineup this year in the midfield-- starting 18 out of 19 games and helping our team to a postseason NEWMAC appearance," remarked head field hockey coach Jennifer Foster. "She is a steady presence in the midfield on the offensive and defensive ends of the field."

With Baird's help both the field hockey and the lacrosse teams advanced to NEWMAC play across the 2025-26 season.
