Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's lacrosse freshman Kelly Burke (Georgetown, Mass.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Rookie of the Week.
Burke notched six goals and two assists in a pair of games for Salve Regina last week. She tallied three points (1-2-3), won four draw controls, and collected two ground balls in a loss to Bridgewater State on Tuesday, then potted a career-high five goals in a 15-14 loss to TCCC foe Colby-Sawyer on Saturday. Burke also won two draw controls and caused a turnover against the Chargers. On the season, Burke has nine points (7-2-9), which places her in a tie for second on the Seahawks with junior Nicole Viola (Scarborough, Maine).
Burke was also a field hockey standout this past fall for head coach Jen Eldridge, who also coaches the women's lacrosse team. Burke scored a team-high 15 goals en route to earning TCCC Rookie of the Year honors.
The Seahawks (0-3) return to action this evening with a 6 p.m. contest against Emerson at Gaudet Field.
